Another year at Tales of the Cocktail in New Orleans for Botucal
Botucal participated once again in Tales of the Cocktail, one of the most renown cocktail festivals in the world taking place in New Orleans, which annually brings together the most prestigious beverage brands in a week of seminars, tastings, events and much more.
The brand organized a series of activities aimed at journalists specialized in the industry, as well as “lyfestyle” press, in which they presented the new rums of Botucal: Mantuano and Planas. Botucal also collaborated in seminars led by “Global Rum Ambassador,” Ian Burrel, among other influencing personalities in the industry.
Ian Burrel addressed the origin of rum, spiced rum and its linkage as a medicinal and aphrodisiac beverage at the seminar “Falernum, Shrubs & Mythical Caribbean Rum Liqueurs”. He also promoted the Diplomático World Tournament (DWT), with a series of videos that showed an ironic twist on how to lose a cocktail competition.
The second seminar was “Moving beyond colors, a new classification for Rum,” by Richard Seal, with the support of Ian Burrel, Petter Holland and Luca Gargano, on the need to universalize a categorization for rums based on their type of distillation, to protect its authenticity.
Botucal also had a tasting “takeover” that took place with Devin Kennedy, a bartender at New York’s Cote Korean Steak House, who prepared a cocktail menu that was offered all night at the Doris Metropolitan.
In the following day event, three popular bars in New Orleans were toured in a “Botucal Trolley,” with excellent atmosphere and attention: The Old No. 77, The Cure and Cane & Table. The host bartender for the event was Kevin Beary from the bar Three Dots and a Dash, in Chicago and also the winner of this year’s DWT for the USA. Beary, offered Tiki cocktails with Mantuano and Planas while serving Reserva Exclusiva to enjoy on its own.
The closing event “Classic & Vintage” featured two specially crafted cocktails with Botucal, joining part of the spirits portfolio of its American importer Domaine Select.
