Gilberto Briceño joins Tito Cordero as Master Distiller of Botucal Rum
The accelerated growth of Botucal Rum around the world the last few years has given way for the integration of a new Master Distiller, one that will collaborate with Master Distiller Tito Cordero. Together they will share their talent and knowledge of rum in order to elaborate on and guarantee the quality of Botucal rums.
Master Gilberto Briceño, has over 30 years of experience in the world of wine and spirits which has helped him become Botucal Rum’s Master Distiller. His experience in the industry began shortly after he graduated as a chemical engineer in Barquisimeto, Venezuela. Following graduation he began working at Licorerías Unidas S.A. (LUSA), now known as Destilerías Unidas S.A (DUSA), and the parent company of Botucal Rum. There he held several titles including Packaging Manager and Quality Control Manager.
Years later he moved to Montreal to work with Seagram’s International as their Quality Control Manager. In 2001 he joined Pernod Ricard, in Brazil, as their Quality Control and Environmental Director for all of the distilleries in the Americas. He gained immense experience in assuring the quality and consistency of the products as well as facilitating technical analysis and providing technical support. Then, in 2007 he returned to Venezuela with Pernod Ricard as Quality Control Senior Manager.
In 2014, he returned to DUSA as Quality Control Manager and soon after was named Master Distiller for Botucal Rum, a title that he is very proud of as he was part of the company when the brand was launched, and has followed closely its international development over the years.
